Jason Stoneking, Audience of None

Audience of None

Happy House Books 2015

Audience of None is the final volume in the Audience Trilogy. After writing in response to titles supplied by others in the first two books of the series, Jason returns here to his own choice of titles, exploring the stories and ideas that interest him most personally, without tailoring his subject matter to any specific audience. The collection features twenty essays that intimately balance memoir and polemic, offering a candid view of what it means to be an author in search of a readership.

Audience of Twelve

Audience of Twelve

Happy House Books 2012

In this follow up to Audience of One, Jason invited a dozen of his friends, lovers, colleagues and cohorts to provide titles to inspire his essays. Each audience member was asked to contribute five titles and then to respond to what Jason had done with them. Sixty essays resulted from the process, spreading across a range of subjects from sex, death and religion, to psychedelics, patriotism, Greek philosophy, and Joan Jett. All sixty essays are presented here, with chapter introductions by the title givers.
